It is said that Education is not a part of life, it is life itself for everyone. According to Nelson Mandela, “Education is the most powerful tool which can be used to change the world”. The role of teachers and schools is vital in moulding the mindset of children and to develop them into good humans. Therefore, it becomes the responsibility of the governments to ensure proper education and provide learning to the children.
In 2015 – 16 budget announcements, Government of Rajasthan under the leadership of Chief Minister Smt. Vasundhara Raje had announced a scheme named “Adarsh Schools” with the primary objective of providing better education and better facilities to the students in the rural areas of the state.
The government has developed 1340 schools as Adarsh Schools and is determined to increase this number up to 3095 till 2017 and 5458 till 2018. The recent session has seen 21% growth in the enrolment number, which is quite appreciable keeping the future of rural children in mind. Over 15 Lacs new students have been enrolled since the inception of the scheme.
Adarsh schools have been developed as large integrated schools with highly qualified teachers as a part of the education delivery system. Smart infrastructural facilities like playgrounds, boundary, walls, enough number of classrooms, computers, labs, separate toilets for boys and girls, libraries etc. have been included which is very competitive with other private schools.
“After having facilities such as drinking water, whitewash and fan in every classroom, I feel good to come to school every day.” Archana Prajapat, Class VIIIth student of the Government School, Bhatawala, Jaipur. Such experiences of students are making this scheme a big success.
To improve education standards, the government has decided to run some schools on a PPP (Public-Private-Partnership) basis. This is a limited experiment with the aim of providing quality education to children at costs matching those of government schools. Such schools can become role models for others in the state.
The Government of Rajasthan (GoR) has been putting great efforts towards the welfare of the state residents since a long time and education, being the key to a brighter future for everyone, has been emphasized by the government at a wide scale across all 33 districts.
