Vocational Training, Learning and Education are the must haves for employability and for the development of any enterprise. These qualities are the major contributors towards reduction of poverty and to stimulate a development process, Skill Development proves to be one of the best tools. It creates a great impact in increasing the possibilities of transition of informal economy into the formal economy. The Indian learning has not been proved too efficient to make youths of our country employable according to the industrial and employability needs. Even after the development of an overgrown number of schools and colleges, a huge number of youth is still not capable of getting employed and to get better job opportunities due to lack of skill.
Keeping all of this in mind, Government of Rajasthan, under the leadership of Chief Minister Smt. Vasundhara Raje initiated the Skill Training by signing an MOU worth Rs. 200 Crores with BSDC (Bhartiya Skill Development Campus) to setup the first University of Skill Development under PPP module. In April 2016, Smt. Vasundhara Raje also inaugurated India’s largest Skill Development campus at Mahindra SEZ, Jaipur which is based on the Swill Dual Model.
Rajasthan was one of the first states concerned about the skilling youth, resulting setup of a Skill Mission, Rajasthan Mission on Livelihoods (RMoL) in 2004.
In 2014, RMoL was restructured and with the association of various independent advisers and professionals, working as a apex policy body for skill development in the State of Rajasthan. This is 100% government owned not-for-profit corporation registered under Companies Act.
Rajasthan Skill & Livelihoods Development Corporation (RSLDC) is implementing different schemes and programmes for increasing skill development and entrepreneurship in the state. These are:
The Skill Training program has been able to train more than 1.78 Lac youths across the state with employment opportunities to over 11.78 Lac people. Over 1 Lac of youth has been employed in the government sector.
The results are evident from the fact that Rajasthan won the Gold Trophy for Best State in Skill Development for the second time at “Skilling India Summit” organized by ASSOCHAM.
Unemployment is the worst phase of any youth’s life and hence, such an initiative by Government of Rajasthan is one of the most cherished programs among the youth of the state. Enormous numbers of participation have been taken in the Skill Training program and most of the participants have got wonderful job opportunities as well. Another stepping stone towards Rajasthan’s development – A Great Initiative indeed.
