Now on the first of every month, the elderly people of Rajasthan are rest assured that their pension will be transferred to their respective bank accounts. With the timely transfer of pension, the people of Rajasthan will receive a message on their mobile phones. Later, they can visit the nearby e-Mitra centre, swipe their Rupay debit card and easily withdraw money from their bank accounts.
This is a new picture of every city and the village of Rajasthan. Bhamashah Yojana has transformed the face of Rajasthan.
Designed with three key objectives- women empowerment, financial inclusion and direct benefit transfer– Bhamashah Yojna is a unique service delivery platform in the country. At the heart of the platform is the robust Bhamashah database that has individual and family details and their eligibility for all government benefits. It also integrates Aadhar biometric database for identity authentication.
“Earlier, my pension used to come in bits and pieces. After my Bhamashah enrolment, my pension now comes directly in my account Now I am the ‘mukhiya’ of my family —Patasi Devi, Kukas”
Bhamashah has given wings to women empowerment in Rajasthan. The scheme recognizes every family as a unit and the lady of the house as the head of the family. The family card made under Bhamashah scheme is authorised on the name of the lady of the family, and all the benefits granted under the scheme are transferred to her bank account only. With this, the state has become the only one in the country to empower women by registering the bank account in her name.
Launched in the year 2008 by the Hon’ble Chief Minister Smt Vasundhara Raje, the scheme took a full-fledged shape when she came to power again in 2014 with the aim of including financial inclusions.
With around 5 Crore + residents of 1.42 Crore + families enrolled under Bhamashah, the figures are continuously increasing. So far over 1 crore 30 lakh Rupay debit cards have been issued.
- At the time of Bhamashah registration, all the information related to the family is added to Bhamashah Database.
- All the information related to government schemes which benefit any of the family members for eg (Pension or NREGA job card number etc.) are also added to the Bhamashah card.
- The beneficiaries’ bank account is linked to the Bhamashah card and the benefits of schemes like Pension, NREGA, scholarship, Janani Suraksha are transferred directly to their account through a unified Bhamashah platform.
- Also for easy withdrawal of money from bank accounts near to home, a network of 23,000+ banking pay points (with Micro ATMs) have been set up and 15.000 more pay points are being set up in villages.
